The Glades Sculpture Walk

A living rainforest — and works that belong in it

The Tamborine Mountain Glades Sculpture Walk is a new exhibition. It is a unique collection, set within a working rainforest where the light changes through the day, the seasons shift, and every return visit reveals something you missed before. Walk among the pieces at your own pace. Come back in the evening when they are lit. Stay the weekend and let it slow you down.

The artist behind the walk

Antone Bruinsma

Sculptor · 35+ years · Cedar Creek

Antone Bruinsma is one of Australia's most accomplished stone sculptors. Born in Amsterdam and raised in Queensland, he began carving at the age of ten and has spent more than 35 years creating works for public spaces, private gardens, universities and cultural institutions throughout Australia and overseas.

When Antone first walked the grounds of Tamborine Mountain Glades, he recognised a place where sculpture could exist as it was meant to — not framed by walls or plinths, but set into a living environment that changes around it. The Glades gave his work the space to breathe.

When you stay, the experience slows down. A sculpture you pass once on the walk won’t feel the same the second time. The light is different in the morning. The sounds change. And there’s a real chance of crossing paths with Antone in the garden.
